Christmas is coming to Mayfield! A not-to-be-missed festive programme is on it’s way to our historic arches – including festive films, street food and entertainment at the Magical Christmas Movie Experience, Christmas craft workshops for all the family, festive treats from GRUB, and a 12 Days of Christmas theme party! The Mayfield warehouse will also play host to the Cash For Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal again this year.

A Magical Christmas Movie Experience

From 23 November – 16 December, three arches in the Mayfield depot will be transformed into Manchester’s largest ever experiential cinema. Entering through a Narnia-inspired wardrobe, visitors will emerge into a magical enchanted forest which will transport guests to a fairy-tale cinema and street food venue. The cinema features a 33 foot wide screen and high quality digital projector to give the very best experience possible.

Films will be screened every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with matinee screenings of children’s favourites at weekends. Among the Christmas classics being shown are:  The Greatest Showman which will feature stilt walkers and performers to create carnival atmosphere, Love Actually, with a live choir and band (audience participation is expected!), Will Ferrell’s Elf, Home Alone 1&2, kids’ classic Polar Express and the timeless 1985 favourite Santa Claus: The Movie starring Dudley Moore.

Craft workshops

Inside the arches, a series of Christmas workshops will take place alongside the Saturday cinema screenings – with festive craft activities for the whole family to enjoy, including candle-making, making your own skipping rope, building a wooden toy boat, and making lace-up wings to style up your trainers!

12 Days of Christmas theme party

On Saturday December 22nd a  magical 12-hour ’12 Days of Christmas’ themed party will take place At Mayfield – with a new activity starting on the hour, every hour between 1pm and midnight. Each activity is inspired by the well-known carol, from a Partridge in a Pear Tree at 1pm – to 12 drummers drumming at midnight. The party will be a real interactive feast for the senses and is one not to be missed! Booking details are coming soon.

GRUB Food Fair

Mayfield’s resident weekly street food fair is getting in the festive mood over at Fairfield Social Club, stocking a range of Christmas treats including ‘feuerzangenbowle’ – a flaming super-charged version of gluhwein, along with specially prepared mulled wine and cider.

During the month of December they will also be collecting donated items such as underwear, socks, coffee, tea, milk, sugar, toiletries, non-spoilable food and sanitary products for Manchester-based homeless charity Coffee4craig.

You can also pick up your Christmas tree while you enjoy a festive drink in Fairfield Social Club on Saturday December 1st – as they’ll be selling wonderful real Christmas trees!

Mission Christmas

Mayfield will once again host the Mission Christmas collection on behalf of the Cash for Kids charity. Every year thousands of toys are donated and distributed to deserving families by individuals and organisations in the city.

James Heather, development director at U+I commented: “Christmas is a really important time for all of us and we are very pleased to once again be hosting Mission Christmas which serves as a reminder that Christmas is for giving.”
