On May 19, GRUB at Mayfield will open its doors for the very first time. Promising an eclectic mix of street food and craft ales, GRUB at Mayfield will bring the largest network of street-food traders to your doorstep.
Each week, a different line up of six traders will serve up mouth-watering creations for your delight. It’s going to be hot, cold, sweet, sour, exotic and traditional.
The driving force behind GRUB is Bailey. We caught up with him to get a, ahem, flavour of what to expect.
“My interest in street-food stems from wanting to get involved at our local market in Levenshulme, we saw how vibrant and exciting an event it was and just wanted to get stuck in so we started selling Colombian grub, people loved it and we loved cooking it up. Street food gives such an immediate connection between chefs and punters we embraced it and 4 years later we’re still here trying to give even more opportunities for those experiences”
“The street-food scene in the UK is smashing and is particularly special in Manchester. We have some incredibly creative talent here who each, in their own way, create excellent food and drink. Some are looking to elevate street food, others are are just looking to make hearty, tasty grub. But quality is what unites them. We are very lucky.
“We’re going to continue to trawl the country to bring you one out-of-town operator each week. We’re an inclusive bunch and want to spread the love far and wide. We’re going to bring the cream of the land’s traders to you from the likes of Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield and beyond!
“We have agreed with Runaway Brewery – one of the city’s finest – to be the supplier of the house beers at Mayfield among a revolving line up of the best Mancunian and Northern breweries. We’ve got a few beery surprises planned so watch this space.
“The move to Mayfield allows us to do more and to do it better than before. It’s a unique place which we know people will warm to very quickly. We’re all very excited and we can’t wait to get cracking. It is going to be quite something.”
GRUB Food Fair at Mayfield will operate every Friday and Saturday from 12 noon through to 10pm and then every Sunday will be host to an array of laid back food and music events from 12 noon to 8pm.
