2017 marks the 20th anniversary of The Manchester Food and Drink Festival, and Mayfield is delighted to be hosting several high profile events.

 

MFDF is the UK’s largest urban food and drink festival, this year’s event will take place from September 28 to October 9. Like Manchester’s ever-popular Christmas markets, the Food and Drink festival is not based in a single location, but across multiple sites across the city centre, including Mayfield.

On Saturday September 30 at 8pm, Mayfield Depot, Tampopo, the independent Manchester-based pan-Asian restaurant chain, will joining forces with the festival itself to host a joint and very special birthday party.

On Thursday October 5 we’re excited to be hosting another  very exciting event, Hispi meets the Unabomber, a collaboration between food and drink innovator, Gary Usher, and club alchemists turned restauranteurs The Unabombers.  A  huge banquet-cum-food party will bring together two of the hottest food brands in the north – The Refuge and Hispi – along with club pioneers The Unabombers.

On Saturday October 7 Thomasina Miers, the red hot Mexican food entrepreneur, brings a new gastro take on the infamous ‘Day of the Dead’ festival to Mayfield.  Thomasina will also be live at the Festival Hub Cookery Theatre performing a cookery demo and signing copies of her new book ‘Home Cook by Thomasina Miers’.

Over the years the Festival has drawn names as diverse as British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain to A-list chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.

One of the star names on the menu for this year is health food blogger turned best-selling author and entrepreneur Ella Mills, the woman behind Deliciously Ella.  Ella will be hosting two ticketed pop up banquets (a lunch service and a dinner service) at the Festival Hub on Albert Square.

Other attractions include the Just East Street Kitchen and the Fever-Tree Gin Garden..
